One of the initial objectives set forth by the RiverCity Washers Development Team was to ensure that a standard washer game size could be designed and replicated to ensure consistency among the brand. In order to accomplish that task, specific attention was made to determine the size of the washer board playing area which resulted in a hybrid approach to several different versions of the game of washers.

In order to establish a consistent washer game board standard that can be duplicated from an exact mold, RiverCity Washers contracted with a plastics manufacturer to streamline the production of this washer game to establish a standard playing apparatus. One of the greatest aspects regarding the game of washers today is the variations of the game, scoring apparatus, rules, and scoring strategies. While this ensures competitive alliances, it makes it difficult for a governing body to create official rules and establish a baseline for different washer board styles. Most of the time a person will play a style of washers in which they have played before, or they will purchase from a reliable manufacturer with a consistent product that resembles the style in which they have played. Additional washer game styles include in ground pits where a hole is dug into the ground with a PVC pipe, or can set in the hole and flush with the ground.
